I did some work for green guerrillas on behalf of the gardens back around 2001\\. There was a settlement shortly after Bloomberg took office -- some gardens were saved, funded and became permanent. Some were left to muddle along and some sacrificed to the development gods. A sensible approach.. The gardens are required to have some set public hours. Some of them have fostered great community activism in cleaning up their blocks and neighborhoods, paving the way for the interest in development that will displace them. I would definitely like to see the better-organized gardens left to do their thing. Some are just one or two people, some are not as well maintained.
